1. Class:
Foot brake class open to 1962-65 Dodge and Plymouth B-Body cars originally available with Max Wedge - Wedge engines. Clone cars acceptable. Races will be a full 1/4 mile, .500 second full tree, on an index with a breakout rule in effect. Class designation and index must appear on windshield prior to entering the staging lanes. Automatic and manual transmission cars will not compete in separate classes. Drivers will compete in heads-up trophy class run-offs, and in an all-run cash eliminator, both on their chosen index. Drivers may change their index during an event, but not after run-offs or eliminations have started. Same index class must be run on Sunday as they ran on Saturday. All Max Wedge contestants must be on site and make a pass down the track on Saturday to be eligible to compete in cash eliminations on Sunday. If a contestant is on site and is unable to make a pass down the track on Saturday, they must report to a Classic Events Official to be able to run in eliminations on Sunday. Competitors are not eligible to compete in any other categories, regardless of e.t., except Gambler's races. All vehicles must run on an established class index
( MW/AAA 9.00, MW/AA 9.50, MW/A 10.00, MW/B 10.50, MW/C 11.00, MW/D 11.50 and MW/E 12.00 and MW/F 12.50 )
2. Ballast:
Removable ballast limited to 100 pounds. Weight must be installed in acceptable weight box, installed in trunk and attached to the frame or cross member.
3: Body:
a. Appearance: Although not required, cars are expected to appear vintage in nature. Car names, lettering, paint schemes and wheels should have a 1960's or early 1970's flair.
b. Body: Alterations or customizing prohibited. Any fiberglass or other lightweight body panels are allowed, except removable or tilt front ends. No external modification of any body panel that will alter the stock body line is allowed. No air dams or spoilers allowed.
c. Fender Splash Pans: Full inner panels are required, but may be trimmed for header clearance.
d. Firewall: Firewall must be original and in stock location.
e. Grille: Must be full production for make, model and year claimed. Covering in front or behind grille prohibited. Vehicle must retain stock appearing head lamps, tail lamps and turn signals.
f. Hood/Scoop: Hood required in all classes. Scoop is optional, but is limited to original equipment type, with a maximum front height of 5 inches.
g. Interior: Full upholstered and carpeted interior must be retained. Upholstered aftermarket front bucket type seats permitted (two required). Rear seat may be removed when roll bar/cage is installed, but area must be upholstered of carpet leaving no bare panels. Full dashboard must remain with aftermarket gauges allowed.
h. Windows: Windshield and windows must be of safety glass, Lexan, Plexiglass, or other shatter-proof material. Windows not required too be operative.
i. Wheel Tubs: Wheel tubs of any size are allowed if legal wheels and tires are positioned in stock location relative to exterior body lines.
4. Brakes:
Brakes required on all four wheels. Aftermarket units allowed. Line-locks permitted.
5. Chassis:
Stock chassis is required. Sub frames may be joined. Rear frame may be moved in for rear tire and wheel tub clearance. Roll bar required in all cars running 11.00 to 11.49 and in all convertibles running 11.00 to 12.50. Roll cage required in all vehicles running 10.99 or quicker or any cars exceeding 135 mph. In full-bodied cars, with unaltered firewall, floor, and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted), running between 10.00 and 10.99, roll bar permitted in place of roll cage. In convertibles running 10.99 or quicker or exceeding 135 mph roll cage mandatory. Vehicles running between 9.00-9.99 must have current NHRA SFI chassis certification sticker.
6. Drivetrain:
a. Automatic Transmission: Any model transmission (must be same make as car) having same number of forward speeds and reverse permitted. Transmission case must be OEM from a standard, automotive application. Pneumatic, hydraulic or electric shifters prohibited. Transmission brake not allowed.
b. Manual Transmission: Aftermarket 4-speed transmission and manual shifter allowed. No “clutchless” or planetary Lenco-type transmissions allowed. Clutch must be activated by normal foot motion without the aid of any electronic or pneumatic device.
c. Rear End: Any rear end allowed, provided it was original equipment in an American production car. Aftermarket housings and axles, along with any gear ratio, are allowed.
d. Driveshaft Loop: Required.
7. Electrical:
Battery may be relocated. Electrically driven fans and water pumps permitted. Charging system not required.
8. Electronics:
No electronics permitted. No 2-steps, 3-steps or any other advanced electrical components allowed. Electronic Ignition Boxes are limited to MSD 7AL 2 and MSD 6 series boxes acceptable. MSD 7AL 2 PLUS and all DIGITAL Ignition Boxes not permitted.
9. Engine:
a. Block: Engine block restricted to RB-series or B-series, 413, 426W or 440 cubic inch only. Block must be an original cast-iron assembly-line block or an aftermarket aluminum or cast-iron replacement block. Actual displacement is not a tech item. Any internal modification allowed.
b. Carburetion: Dual four barrel carburetors required, must be Carter AFB, AVS or Edelbrock replacement. Carburetors must outwardly appear stock with the exception of the deletion of the choke valve, choke shaft and its linkage. Air horn may not be cut off.
c. Cylinder Heads: Aluminum aftermarket heads allowed, must retain their original external overall appearance. Any internal modifications allowed.
d. Intake Manifold: Must be cast production or aftermarket dual four cross-ram or dual four “Indy-style” inline manifold. No aftermarket sheet metal or fabricated intake manifolds allowed. No direct in line allowed.
e. Oiling System: No dry sump systems allowed.
f. Valvetrain: No limitations on valvetrain.
10. Exhaust:
Open headers allowed.
11. Fuel:
Only gasoline fuel is permitted. Aftermarket fuel cells, electric fuel pumps and regulators allowed. No nitrous oxide.
12. Ignition:
Any aftermarket Distributor and wires allowed. See “Electronics” above for acceptable Ignitions.
13. Radiator:
Full size radiator in stock location required. 16 oz. catch can required.
14. Safety:
a. Helmets: Must meet SNELL or SFI specifications. See NHRA rule book for specific requirements. All helmets must have the appropriate certification sticker affixed inside the helmet.
b. Jacket: Must meet SFI Spec 3.2A/1 in all vehicles.
c. Seat Belts: Required in all vehicles. Three inch safety harness must meet SFI Spec 16.1 and be less than two years old. Y-type shoulder harnesses will no longer be permitted. Any Y-type harness currently in use will be allowed through the end of its expiration.
15. Steering:
Stock steering required.
16. Suspension:
Stock front suspension required. Front suspension limiters are not permitted. Solid bushings in rear suspension allowed. Leaf springs, if used, must retain stock length and mounting configuration. Leaf springs may be moved inboard for tire clearance. Ladder bars and coil over shocks permitted. Wheelie bars permitted in AAA, AA & A only.
17. Tires:
Front tires must have a minimum tread width of 4.5 inches. Rear slicks are permitted and are limited to a maximum side wall designation of 10.5Wx33 inches. Tire tread may not extend outside of fender, maximum clearance between sidewall and body 3 inches.
18 Weight:
Weight is not a tech item. However, vehicle must appear in stock condition with no evidence of gutting or excessive lightening.
19. Wheelbase:
Must retain stock wheelbase and stock overhang.
20. Wheels:
Minimum 3.5 inches width required on the front. Any rear width is allowed as long as it fits under the stock wheel well opening |
